With only a few days remaining until the end of the 2015 season, actress Lana Lourdes is wisely spending this time, to circle the success achieved in the past year. Namely, the young and talented actress from Detroit, born on January 14, has had what seems to be the best year of her professional life, appearing in several movies, and giving memory worth performances.
Her string of successful movies in 2015 was not part of a master plan, but simply a fluke of scheduling. The films in which she appeared this year were filmed over a two and a half-year period and happened to hit theaters, one after another, this year. “It’s only a coincidence that luckily turned out for the best”, says Lourdes. The actress’ staggered release schedule has allowed her to keep her head in her work.
The actress is now earning year-end accolades and major buzz for her role in “Genet.” In addition, she’s got several movies ready to roll in 2016, and is set to appear in a major theater production, which is currently in the process of preparing.
I hope people are not going to get bored of me, says Lourdes with a smile, although that’s not likely to be a problem. Her warm, suiting work in the film industry has made her a leading candidate for the upcoming award season, and has already earned her nominations from the Obie Awards. In the past she has earned some highly praised awards, such as Best Supporting Actress recognition and Best Breakthrough performer from the NYC Film Critics Society.
The first film scheduled for 2016 in which we’ll be seeing the actress is a witty, black comedy, with great portrayal of the human nature. In the movie, Lana Lourdes will be playing the lead female role. For Lana appearing in comedies is like going back to the roots. Being funny has always come naturally to Lourdes, who used to put on skits with her friends for her parents when she was growing up. Her favorite thing to do while she was growing up was to perform skits and wear funny costumes.
There is no doubting of Lana’s talents as an actress. But she doesn’t let the success go to her head, and instead keeps a modest outlook when taking on new projects.
